Direct Debit
A direct debit or direct withdrawal is a financial transaction in which a person or company grants permission to withdraw funds directly from their bank account. Direct debits are typically used for recurring payments like subscriptions as it removes the hassle of expiring and blocked credit cards and generally allows higher totals than a credit card.
Direct Debit payment methods are SEPA, BS and LS payment methods. Direct Debit payment methods have an authorization process before the payment method is allowed to perform transactions, and can return payment status either instantly or within a few days. Therefore Direct Debit payment methods will often show a Payment Status of PendingResponse
, while we await either an authorization or a transaction response. In case of a failure a direct debit payment method will automatically be handled by an associated Dunning Scheme.
